What is recorded here

Eight stones lie nearly flat at the end of a rocky ridge in Crottees, forming an imperfect circle seven and a half metres across. They resemble the grand stone circles of south-west Ireland, yet lack enough standing structure to join that rank. This exclusion creates a charming mystery: either the builders intended a low chamber for moonlight and wind, or time simply knocked the monument down. The stones still mark a chosen spot on the ridge, waiting for someone to read what they lost.

At the end of a ridge of outcropping rock. A series of eight stones, mostly prostrate, or nearly so, lie in an approximately circular arrangement (diam. c. 7.5m). The monument has obvious affinities with the stone circle complex of south-west Ireland but the remains are insufficient to warrant acceptance as belonging to that class.
