Anomalous stone group in Ballynacarriga (bear By.)

In rough moorland, on the promontory leading to Crow Head at the tip of the Beara Peninsula. A group of thirteen stones of varying shapes and sizes protrude separately and randomly above the surface of shallow bog over an area c. 20m N-S. The tallest stone (H 0.95m; 0.7m x 0.4m) has its long axis NE-SW and stands near the middle of the group. Two other smaller stones are upright and the remainder are either leaning, fallen or boulder-like. This area is known locally as 'Áit a' Ghalláin' (the place of the gallaun). An enclosure (CO126-025004-) with an internal hut site (CO126-025005-) lies c. 100m to the SW and a coastal promontory fort (CO126-025001-) is 190m to the S.
