An tOileán Glas

An tOileán Glas is a small islet in County Donegal, little more than a green knot of earth caught between the mainland and the open sea. It may have served as a marker for boats, a resting place for herons, or a forgotten boundary for ancient fields. The name itself suggests visibility, a glass-like clarity in the water around it. Even if no person lives there now, the islet still performs its purpose: it appears when the tide pulls back and disappears when the tide returns, refusing to be owned or forgotten.
