Alamance (probably)

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Alamance (probably) as Steamship (period Unassigned)-(1918). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Alamance* was a steamship built in 1864 and registered in Scotland; it sank in 1918 off the coast of North Carolina after colliding with the *Merrimac*. The wreck was significant as it marked one of the last major maritime incidents involving a Scottish-built vessel in U.S. waters during World War I.
