William Henry Fitton was born in Dublin on 24 January 1780, the city that gave him his first stones, his college years and the habit of looking beneath surfaces. He carried that Dublin curiosity into medicine, geology and public debate, helping others see the hidden order inside chaotic earth. Even when he lived elsewhere, part of him remained a child of Dublin, watching ordinary things reveal their secret structure.
