Wilhelmina Geddes was born on 25 May 1887 at Drumreilly Cottage in County Leitrim, the eldest of four children in a family of Scottish farmers who had crossed the Atlantic before settling in Ireland. She began drawing from life and nature at four, later trained at the Belfast School of Art, and went on to shape the Irish Arts and Crafts movement and the twentieth-century British stained glass revival. Windows in Ottawa, Lampeter and Ypres still carry her light, while Cronmoney Cemetery in County Antrim holds her since 1955.
