Wellington Bridge

Single-arch road bridge over river, built 1815. "Repaired", 1886. Reconstructed, ----. Part creeper- or ivy-covered walls with replacement rounded coping to parapets. Single segmental arch between grouped cast-iron tie plates with granite ashlar voussoirs. Sited spanning Corock River with unkempt banks to river.

A bridge erected to a design by Thomas Connick (d. 1849) of Monck Street, Wexford, representing an integral component of the early nineteenth-century civil engineering heritage of south County Wexford with the architectural value of the composition, one forming part of the so-called "New Line Road" improving communications between Duncannon Fort and Wexford (cf. 15704044), suggested not only by the silver-grey granite dressings demonstrating good quality workmanship, but also by the elegant "sweep" of the arch making a pleasing visual statement at a crossing over the Owenduff River.
