Diagonal-plan weir structure, built c.1780, located on River Liffey, opposite Phoenix Park. Ramped profile and of masonry construction. Sluice located to centre. Boat club to south bank, private gated apartments to north bank.

A late eighteenth-century weir associated with a range of industrial uses adjacent to the site, including calico production, wool processing, and malting. No longer in industrial use, the weir provides context to this part of the Liffey, which once accommodated a range of industries. It forms an attractive feature in an area which retains its open, semi-rural aspect.
