What is recorded here

Situated on the River Suir at Beakstown. A weir is still apparent at this location and may be on the site of one of the two eel weirs in this area mentioned in Civil Survey of 1654-6 (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 55). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002).
