Wedge tomb in Doorus Demesne

In pastureland with outcropping rock, some 500m to the S of Kinvarra Bay. The tomb consists of a simple wedge-shaped chamber (L 2.5m; Wth 1.5m at SW narrowing to 1.2m at NE) formed of three uprights and open to the SW. It is covered by a single roofstone on top of which is piled a stack of field stones. The chamber decreases in height from SW to NE and is surrounded by a low mound. Wedge tomb, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BCE). Its orientation and construction reflect a regional tradition in western Ireland, illustrating early funerary and ritual practices.
