Wedge tombs are ancient burial chambers where large stones form a narrow wedge shape. In Berneens, that old structure still stands among the land. People may have placed dead relatives inside and returned later to remember them. The stones have watched the locality change for centuries.

Wedge tomb; dates to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BC). These tombs are characteristic of the transition from megalithic to smaller funerary structures in Ireland and are often associated with early farming communities.
