What is recorded here

Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1880, with foliate spout, fluted cap and finial, banded shaft, and curved handle. Set on stepped concrete platform with cast-iron plate behind having raised lettering.
Attractive cast-iron water pump located on street of Whitechurch village. Would once have acted as communal water source. Banding and fluting are well executed and, along with elegantly curved handle, add artistic interest to utilitarian object.
