Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870. Fluted shaft and cap with acorn finial and knob handle. Foundry mark to shaft. Set in recently repaved area bounded by coursed random stone wall.
This water pump incorporates artistic detailing such as the fluted shaft. It makes a picturesque contribution to the streetscape with its detail and design. As a mass-produced nineteenth-century object, it is of technical significance.
