Described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as 'Upon the sd Clonenakeany stands ... the ruins of a mill' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'John Ó Magher of Clonenakeany Esqr., Irish Papist' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 7). The mill is unlocated within the townland.
