In 1842, Windele visited 'Mr. Hawkes farm' where he saw...'his great oaken trough, the remains of some old mill or brewery. He has also several querns'. No more information available. Site not located. (O'Mahony 1909, 215). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
