Cast-iron fluted vent pipe base, c.1850.
Sewer vent pipes are unusual and rare in small towns in Ireland. The cast-iron vent pipes, pumps and terraces of sea-facing houses indicate that there was a high degree of planning and infrastructure in this seaside resort during the Victorian era. A similar vent pipe survives on Triton Road in Bettystown.
