Valentine Quin died in Adare on 24 August 1824, ending a two-year earldom but continuing a much longer Quin presence in the town. He had moved through Irish politics as baronet, MP for Kilmallock, Baron Adare, Viscount Mount-Earl, then Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, and his family later carried the name Wyndham-Quin. His burial at St. Nicholas’ Church of Ireland in Adare suggests the house, church and town still orbit one another: a life spent taking titles and seats, returned at last to the place that gave the first name.
