What is recorded here

Tynte's Castle stands as a three-storey stone tower on Main Street in Youghal, built in the late 15th century by the Walsh family to guard their merchant goods. The Blackwater River later shifted its course, pulling the water back and leaving the fortress stranded on dry land instead of watching a harbour. It has since held soldiers, prisoners and grain, changing hands from the Tyntes to the FitzMaurices and finally the McCarthy family, who restored it for visitors.
