Depicted on the 16th century Pacata Hibernia map as a plain cross set on a moulded base, located in the centre of North Main Street (Zajac et al. 1995, 101). A 17th century record noted the placing of a 'sundial … about the market cross' (Caulfield 1878, 192). The cross does not survive.
