Cyfarthfa Castle, near Merthyr Tydfil, was built in the late 18th century by William Williams, a prominent ironmaster, and later expanded by his son, Richard Williams, in the early 19th century. The castle is historically significant as the home of the industrialist family who played a key role in the development of the iron industry in South Wales.
