Cyfarthfa Castle was built in the late 18th century by William Jenkin, a prominent ironmaster, and later expanded by his son, John Jenkin, in the early 19th century. It is important as a symbol of the industrial wealth of Merthyr Tydfil during the Iron Age of Wales and is now a museum and arts centre.
