Tullynally Castle

A pair of semi-detached three-bay two-storey estate worker's houses, built, c.1845. Now in use as a single private residence. Dwelling to the north has projecting gable-fronted entrance porch to the centre (having decorative bargeboards) and a full-height box bay window, constructed of brick, to the north end of the front façade (west). Pitched natural slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to gable ends and a large shared chimneystack to the centre. Constructed of coursed rubble limestone with tooled limestone dressings to a number of the openings. Projecting porch to northern house constructed of rubble, possibly water-eroded, limestone. Square-headed window openings having cut stone sills and three-over-three pane timber sliding sash windows. Two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to porch. Square-headed doorcases. Located to the to the west of Tullynally Castle (15400321) and adjacent to entrance to former farmyard complex (15400326).

A good example of high-quality mid nineteenth-century estate worker's houses, associated with Tullynally Castle (15400321), which retain their early character and much of their early fabric. These houses probably date the extensive building programme at Tullynally Castle during the 1840s, when the wealth of this great estate was at its zenith. They have been well-maintained and form part of an important and extensive group of structures associated with Tullynally Castle.
