Tomb is a tomb (effigial (present location)) in Cashel, green, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is an effigy of an unknown woman set into a limestone niche at the east end of the northeast boundary wall of the Cathedral of St John the Baptist and St Patrick's Rock graveyard. Hunt dated the tomb to the late 13th or early 14th century. It may have come from the Franciscan friary rather than the medieval church of St John.
Set into a limestone niche at the E end of the NE boundary wall of the Cathedral of St John the Baptist and St Patrick's Rock graveyard (TS061-025035-) which is also a length of the town wall (TS061-025023-). This effigy of an unknown woman has been described in detail by Hunt (1974, vol. 1, 223; vol. 2, fig. 26) who has dated this tomb to the late 13th/early 14th century. The effigy of the Hackett knight (TS061-025078-) within this graveyard was reputedly from the Hackett chapel in the Franciscan friary (TS061-025008-) (Hunt 1974, vol. 1, 223) c. 100m to the NE, as was, in all probability, the effigy of the Hackett lady (TS061-025088-). Of the Hackett chapel, Wadding (1734, 47) states that 'Many tombs of the founders and other families were then to be seen' (Hunt 1974, vol. 1, 224-5). It is possible that this effigy, along with one other (TS061-025087-) in the graveyard also came from the Franciscan friary rather than the medieval church of St. John (TS061-025013----) which was replaced by the existing cathedral.
