Toberpatrick

On the E-facing slope of a small N-S stream gorge, S of the public road at the E end of a private garden. Land rising in all directions and the views are very limited. A small stone-lined and covered spring well, opening to the S. The stone-work surrounding the well is built into the natural slope and rises above it. The well is surmounted by a wooden slated roof supported on two timber posts, erected by the proprietor. Though named ‘Toberpatrick’ on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1900 revision, there is now no tradition of devotions to St. Patrick at this well. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 15 May 2017
