Tobermochulla, Cragg

Located off-centre to SE, within a children’s burial ground (CL035-020001-). Depicted as a small, circular well on the 1839 OS 6-inch map and named Tobermochulla on all OS historic mapping. A shallow, oval depression (2.25m NW-SE; 3m NE-SW; D 0.45m) which is cut into the contour of a relatively steep SE-facing slope. It is defined on the upslope by some large stones which are situated intermittently around the shallow depression NW-E-SE. It is defined on the downslope by a large beech tree with a number of stones artificially heaped up around its base. These stones form a mound (1.9m NW-SE; 2.7m NE-SW; H 0.8m) around the roots of the tree. There is no water in the well and it is poached by cattle, as is the burial ground and woodland in general.
