Toberdane in Kilfenora is traditionally associated with Saint Fanchea, a 5th-century Irish saint known for her ascetic life and healing miracles. The well was historically visited for its supposed curative properties, particularly for eye ailments and skin conditions, and may have been a site of seasonal pilgrimage or ritual washing.
