Situated on a plateau on a gentle S-facing slope. Tober Cholmain holy well was beside a sacred tree (WA038-020005-) (Fitzgerald 1856-7, 40-43) at Kilcolman church site (WA038-020002-). It is not visible at ground level.

Tobar Cholmain is associated with Saint Colman, a 7th-century Irish monk and bishop linked to the nearby Kilcolman church site. The well was once located beside a sacred tree, suggesting its importance in early Christian and possibly pre-Christian ritual practices.
