The Rooswijk was a Dutch East Indiaman that sank off the coast of England in January 1749 during a severe storm. It was carrying a cargo of tea, spices, and military stores for the British Army; all 220 crew members and soldiers perished, making it one of the most significant and deadly shipwrecks of the 18th century.
