What is recorded here

The Pound in County Kilkenny held the first seized cattle of the Tithe War in 1830, marking the birthplace of open defiance against Church taxation. Fr Martin Doyle PP lost a horse to the same trap in 1831, transforming a local annoyance into a national symbol of resistance. The stones remember that ordinary people stopped paying, forcing the state to confront the Church’s grip on their livelihoods.
