The Fountains

Detached L-plan five-bay two-storey house, built c.1820, having bow to central three bays of south elevation. Lean-to conservatory c.1990 to south-west. Hipped slate roof with tall rendered chimney stacks having decorative ceramic pots and cast-iron rainwater goods. Smooth rendered walls with moulded limestone cornice and limestone sills. Square-headed window openings with limestone sills and replacement timber casement (ground floor) and one-over-one sash (first floor) windows. Square-headed door opening with timber-and-glazed double-leaf door. Original main entrance located to north elevation and accessed by way of pedestrian gateway having segmental-headed opening and replacement gate and set in curved rendered wall located in the north boundary walls along Burke's Hill.

An elegant house having its main reception rooms located with south-facing windows overlooking the River Lee and with its main entrance in the rear, north elevation. The house has an attractive roof profile which curves above the bow to the front elevation. It is one of a group of houses in Tivoli associated with the Lota demesnes.
