Tarnclose Crag is a sea cliff or coastal rock feature composed of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its location within the historically significant landscape of Westmorland and Furness, where such crags often reflect glacial and coastal erosion processes.
