Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair

Toirdelbach Ua Conchobair was born in Connacht in 1088, the youngest son of a king whose house had lost brothers to knives and deposition before he drew his first breath. His mother died that same year, perhaps torn by the birth itself, leaving him to inherit a kingdom where every crown was taken from a sibling and every alliance bled. He would grow into the greatest O'Conor, commission the Cross of Cong, and force Ireland to acknowledge one voice, but the boy began inside a family so wounded it could barely remember its own name.
