Swanage Railway Station, opened in 1845, was a key terminus of the Swanage Railway, originally built by the London and South Western Railway to connect the town to the national rail network. It is important as a surviving example of 19th-century railway architecture and as a hub for the development of Swanage as a seaside resort.
