Stubthwaite Crag is a sea cliff composed of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340–320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its exposure of durable limestone strata, which are characteristic of the region's geological history and provide insight into ancient reef environments.
