What is recorded here

A stake (L 0.75m; diam. 0.06m) set at an angle of 50° evident in the drain face where it was located 0.42m below the field surface. The stake had a wedge shaped toolmark on its submerged end. It is set into poorly humified raised bog with occasional Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
