Structure

A spread (Wth 1.1m; D 0.2m) of predominantly light brushwood in the drain face. The brushwood is laid irregularly and does not form a discernible structure. Numerous pieces have metal-cut toolmarks. Wood species include birch, hazel and alder. The site sits in well-humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat with some ericaceous roots, in the same peat stratum as SMR OF015-189----, located c. 1m to the NW. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
