Structure

Three pieces (Wth 1.89m; D 0.03m) of dispersed brushwood (diam. 0.013-0.035m) orientated NE-SW in the drain face. The two larger pieces have been worked with a metal tool and there is also evidence for branch-trimming. The two larger pieces were identified as Pomoideae and oak, respectively. The site is located in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with occasional Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
