Structure

An irregular deposit (Wth 0.68m; D 0.23m) of light brushwood, twigs and a single roundwood in the drain face. There is some evidence for woodworking with a metal tool, including branch-trimming. Wood species are dominated by birch, with a single piece of willow also recorded. The site sits in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing pockets of Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
