Structure

A loose arrangement (Wth 2.08m; D 0.36m) of light brushwood and light roundwoods in the drain face. The pieces are irregularly laid and do not form a coherent structure. Two pieces have been worked to chisel points. Wood species consist chiefly of birch with some willow and alder also recorded. The site lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing some Eriophorum. It is situated 5m SE of SMR OF015-238----. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
