Structure

An irregular deposit (L 1.6m min.; Wth 0.4m min.; D 0.07m) brushwood, roundwoods and occasional twigs on the field surface. The brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.05m) is up to two pieces deep. A small number of upright pieces may have functioned as pegs but do not form a perceptible pattern. Woodworking is attested by two chisel points and a small number of woodchips. Wood species include oak, birch, alder, ash, hazel, Pomoideae, willow and holly. The site is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
