Structure

A deposit of irregularly laid (Wth 1.1m; D 0.16m) brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.045m), in the drain base, with no clear structure. Branch-trimming with a metal tool is indicated on two pieces. Wood species include birch, oak and willow. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing occasional Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
