Structure

Five roundwoods and six pieces of heavy brushwood (L 3m; Wth 1.18m) orientated approximately NE-SW and evident in the base of a drain. The material is slightly dispersed and partially displaced by machinery. The wood is in good condition. Degraded toolmarks were recorded on two roundwoods. The site was set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum, Menyanthes seeds and ericaceous remains. It has been radiocarbon dated to 1258-916 cal. BC (UCD-9929). Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1998. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
