What is recorded here

Kilmainham holds Structure 5, the earliest dated Neolithic site from that excavation, marking a time when farming first reshaped the Irish landscape. Its postholes form an unclear cluster beside a known house, while charcoal preserved inside them records the moment oak was felled. The missing hearth and artefacts do not diminish it; they with hold back an answer the ground has not yet given.

A single roundwood exposed on the field surface. The roundwood measured 1.4m long and 0.09m in diameter and was aligned north - south. It lay within the raised bog peats and there was no other wood visible in the immediate vicinity. The wood was badly damaged by milling and was not sampled.
