Structure

A single oak plank fragment (L 0.43m; Wth 0.28m; D 0.041m) in the drain face. The plank is radially split and has a possible mortice or notch. The site may represent a disturbed togher but no direct associations with similarly composed sites in the vicinity could be discerned. The plank is situated in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
