Structure

A piece of brushwood (diam. 0.034m) in opposing drain faces. Woodworking is evidenced by a metal-cut chisel point and branch-trimming. The piece is situated in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with a large amount of Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
