Structure

A radially split plank, a roundwood and seven pieces of brushwood in the drain face (L 1.26m; Wth 0.96m; D 0.2m). The site has suffered extensive machine damage. The material is irregularly laid with the plank overlying the other elements. At least three of the underlying elements have toolmarks and another has evidence for burning at one end. The site may be a disturbed togher but no direct associations with similarly composed sites in the vicinity could be discerned. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat with ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
