Structure

Three pieces of brushwood in the drain face (Wth 0.6m; D 0.3m). The brushwood is unevenly spaced with no discernible structure. They occur in two different peat strata thus their association is unclear. Woodworking is evidenced by a metal-cut wedge point and two pencil points with additional branch-trimming. The peat strata can be characterised as poorly to moderately humified Sphagnum peats with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
