Structure

A single roundwood (L 0.65m; diam. 0.08m) orientated E-W, located on the field surface which has been damaged by machinery. A well-preserved axe mark suggests it had been cut with a metal tool. The associated peat is poorly humified Sphagnum, which is moderately laminated containing Phragmites and ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1998. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
