Structure

The site (Wth 0.97m; D 0.34m) consists of several broken oak roundwoods (L 0.79m max.; diam. 0.09m), pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.02m), and a portion of oak plank exposed in the face of a drain. At least one of the roundwoods was broken in antiquity. The plank is an inner tangential split (L 0.3m; Wth 0.29m; D 0.045-0.08m) with squared sides, two charred corners and several linear scores on the upper and lower faces. The scoring is parallel and obliquely running lines (L 0.06m max.) with no apparent pattern. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
