Structure

An irregular spread of over twenty pieces of mixed brushwood on the field surface (L 2.37m min.; Wth 2.98m; D 0.11m). Some of the marginal pieces are parallel, set up to 0.51m apart, with the intervening pieces more irregularly laid. The spread is denser at the SW extent and further pieces of heavy brushwood are evident beyond the examined area. The wood is in good condition and is very straight and regular. This site is in homogenous, moderately humified Sphagnum peat with frequent fibrous roots. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
